Peter my Brother : Of Humble Origin

Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, was an amazing man. I think that one of his most valued qualities was how humble he was. I wish that I had the strength that Peter had. He was very spiritual and devout which are qualities that I would like to strengthen in myself. I need to show the Lord that I am willing to listen to him and to follow whatever he tells me to do and to overcome the challenges in my way. I also admire that Peter was very educated. He was educated both of worldly things and of spiritual things. I think that it is important to be educated because that is the knowledge that you will take with you when you die. Another attribute of his humbleness that I love is listening. Being humble is important and an important part of being humble is listening. When we are willing to listen to others then we are showing that we are open to others opinions. The last part of his humbleness which I thought was amazing was his faith. When you have complete faith is what you believe in then you can be humble. Being humble is completely important because then you will live a happier life.

Becoming a Disciple of Christ

We should all strive to become a disciple of Christ. When we become a disciple of Christ, we will receive many blessings that we cannot even fathom. To be a disciple of Christ means that you will take upon his name. Taking upon his name means that you will stand what he stands for. You will be the greatest example of Christ. We need to have the high standards that the Lord set before us.

This is something that I have to work on in my life. Not everyone is perfect and everyone makes mistakes. But I think that the important part about life is that we progress. We need to fix our mistakes. I know that I need to make my standards higher. I need to stand for the Lord at all times. I do not need the worldly thigns to get in the way of my eternal progression.

Love is ultimately required to be a disciple of Christ. We have to love the Lord and love those that we serve. Without love in our lives then we will not have any passion about what we do. We will not have a will to strive for anything higher than we already are and we all need to strive for the blessings of the celestial kingdom.

Become as a Child

This week in my New Testament class I have studied about become childlike. I have heard about this many times in different church lessons but this time the lesson has really stuck. I first was instructed to read Matthew 18: 3 -4 and Doctrine and Covenants 78: 17-18.

I learned that we are all as little children and we all have the ability to be as children. We just need to be willing to convert ourselves completely. In order to do this, we have to be humble. If we can do this, then we will enter the kingdom and heaven and receieve glory.

I also learned that since we are as children, that there are many blessings from our Father in heaven that we do not yet recognize or understand. He has given us so much and our understand has to be exquisite in order for us to understand everything.

The Lord also states more specifically in the Doctrine and Covenants, he says that if we are of good cheer then he will lead us along our journey. I found this very comforting because he continually lets us know that we are never alone. That he will always help us along our life journey. He also says that if we follow him then we will receieve blessings, eternal life, and many riches. There are always rewards to the choices that we make. The Lord knows the intentions of our hearts and we can improve our lives if we follow what he wants us to do.

I also learned many ways in which we can become as children. This list is shown in Mosiah 3:19.
- Putteth off the natural man
- Become a saint through the atonement of Christ
- Submissive
- Meek
- Humble
- Patient
- Full of Love
- Willing to submit all things to the Lord
- Submit ourselves to the Father

When I first read this list I became very distraught. This list just seemed so out of reach. It just seemed so hard to change my life to be as a child. I then realized that this was the wrong way to think about this. I need to have hope in my life. I need to be all that I can be. I need to make whatever life changes that I need to make myself as a child. If I can accimplish this I know that I will live a happy life. The Lord wants nothing but the best for me. I know that. I know that I can become as a child and complete everything that the Lord wants. I know that I can someday return to live with him.

Being an Apostle of the Lord

I have been in the online New Testament class this semester and have been learning a lot so far. This week we have studied more about the Apostles. Who they were, who they are now, and what their calling is. Through my research, I have found Apostles to be amazing men.

What I have learned that an apostle is is one who is sent forth to represent our Lord Jesus Christ. They are here to be a special witness and to tell us what the Lord has to teach us.

There were apostles in the day of our Lord who have interesting stories themselves. One story that we read about this week was when Christ went out onto the water to teach the people from the boat. He told Peter to cast his net down into the water. Peter said to the Lord that they had not caught any fish all day but he would obey. He put down his net and caught so many fish that the net broke and he had to get more. He then apologized to the Lord. What I learned through this story was not to doubt the Lord.

The Lord knows what he is talking about. He has a plan for us and he is always right. When he gives us a commandment or tells us to do something through his prophets, we must listen. There are intentions that he may not be telling us but we must obey. Everything in his plan has a purpose.

I have a testimony of this gospel. I know that the Lord had apostles in his day and that is why we have them today. I know that the apostles that we had, have now, and will have are special witnesses of the Lord. I know that they will not lead us astray and are only trying to lead us down the path of righteousness so we can one day return to our Heavenly Father.

The semester is almost over and I figured that I would give an update about what happened this semeter with all of s girls from 208 and all of our highlights!

Becca - Well Becca got herself a boyfriend! His name is Kyle and he is from Carson City, Nevada. He is putting in his mission papers soon and we are so proud of him. She is loving summer semester because there is so much more to do and Becca does love to be active and out all the time. She loves it. We celebrated her birthday in May and it was so much fun. She is still a movie fanatic and goes out and sees every movie out there. We ocassionally see her, but we are waiting until next semester when we have her all to ourselves again.

Claire - As for Claire she is just fabulous! She also discovered the magic of the library this semester and spends a lot of her time in there due to her heavy homework load. She was just recently asked out on a date by a guy and she declined. Actually she did not even answer the phone. Haha she is just too cute and boys just love her wayyy too much. She is loving her early classes and being done early. But she does sometimes get bored because Becca and I have later classes, but we tend to keep her busy. She still makes us her amazing cookies which we love. She is still writing to her missionary, Blayne, all the time and cannot stop laughing everytime she reads his letters. It is adorable.

Chelsea - Well nothing new in going on with me. This was an easier semester and I loved it because my work load was so hard last semester. I have also discovered the library this semester and it was amazing. I also have not been very tech savvy this semester. I have broken my computer and I broke my cell phone. YIKES! I do not think that I should be able to be around electronics anymore. hahah!

- We are all living in Camden Apartments. Apartment 7 to be more specific and we are loving it!
- We are all involved on a softball team and it was so much fun
- Our ward is AMAZING! We are combined with Brighton Apartments and LOVING it!
- We have found so many more people to hang out with this semester rather than last semester...let me tell you about them

Group #1:
- We still hang out occasionally with our friends from last semester, Brad, Ryan, and Kristen. Daniel and Jeremy are not up here this semester but we still see Brad and Ryan and Kristen. Kristen spent the first block in Europe and she loved it there!

Group #2:
- We have also found another group of friends to hang out with this semester. Becca's friend back home in Seattle, Washington, Jesse, is up here at BYU-Idaho this semester and so we have become accustomed to hanging out with his roommates and we go and support them at all of their sporting events.
- Their names are Kyle (Becca's boyfriend), Jesse, K-Dub, Colin, and Kris.
- The sports that they play are, soccer, football, lacrosse, and softball. They are kept pretty busy with that and all of them (except K-Dub because he is an RM) are working on turning their mission papers and we are very proud of them and very excited for them.
- Colin also has a girlfriend named Amber and we love Amber! She is funn and fantastic and she can live with us at anytime.

Group #3:
-Our FHE brothers are SOOO funny and SOOO awesome! Haha we like them a lot and we consider them another group of friends.
- Their names are Collin, Mike, Chris, Woodmansee, and Jackson.
- Okay we do not see Jackson as much because he s actually a resident but Collin, Mike, Chris, and Woodmansee are awesome!
- Woodmansee is not his real name, his real name is Mike but we cannot have two Mike's so we call him Woodmansee.
- We always have a super fun time and they are not lame like I hear normal FHE brothers are
- What in the world are we going to without them in the next semesters!? Who even knows!? Maybe they will all come back and still be our friends if they do not think that we are too weird :)

Well I think that is all that we have done this semester. There is probably a lot more that I am missing but I will have to fill y'all up on it later when I remember! ADIOS!

I do not want the semeser to end!
I like the people this semester and am going to miss the dickens out of them!
But I am soo ready to see everyone from Winter semester!

There are about three weeks left in the semester! I cannot wait! But there is so much to do before the end of the semester and I hope that I can get everything done ahhh!!!!

End of the semeste to-do-list
- Pack up things
- Find a place to store everything
- Rock and Roll my finals

Plus all the work inbetween that adds up to those finals! AHHHHHHHHH! This semester has gone by so fast it is RIDICULOUS!

Rexburg Weather

We got totally and completely saoked just yesterday! I swear..Idaho weather is sooo weird. It was sunny and then rainy and then sunny again and then a huge rainstorm! What the heck!? I love it though. WE walked across the street and look how wet we got! I love Rexburg weather!

Second Semester at BYU-Idaho

This second semester is going fantastic! I love the sun shining and all of the fun activities!!! Becca's best friend Jesse is here this semester from Seattle Washington and he is funny! We hang out with him and his roommates and they are a lot of fun. They play a lot of sports and so Claire, Becca, and I made t-shirts so that we can cheer them on in each sport. We just have way too much fun! Classes are amazing this semester and I am loving every minute of it. I had to go to the testing center for the first time... YIKES! Actually it was not as scary as everyone made it out to be. It felt like one of the IB tests hahaha!

We went to this burger place called Big Judd's Burger. These burgers were HUGE!!! One pound burgers! I did not have the heart to get one because that would be just nasty. But a lot of the rest of our group got one and Kyle and Colin actually finished. Just look at how big this burger is!

Rexburg Family

This is our Rexburg Family. We basicallt do everything together. We get mad and happy. We have lots of things in common but most importantly we love eating food together. We count on eachother and are super close and I love it. We made roles for everyone in the family as well.

BYU-Idaho

Here I am at BYU-Idaho and absolutely loving it! That is me with my roommates! I have two of them. Becca is from Seattle, Washington and she is the one in the middle. She is going to be majoring in Accounting. The one on the right is Claire! She is from Las Vegas, Nevada. She is basically my twin. We think alike it is not even funny. We act the same and talk to the same and think the same. It is sometimes very creepy. The only thing we do not have in common are our looks. We even wear the same size clothes and shoes. That is my favorite part.

I have the best neighbors ever. I happen to like them a lot. We only have one set of neighbors because we live in the corner apartment. They are super amazing and we love dropping by their apartment and chatting with them. And here they are in this picture. One the top row from left to right is Kayla, Jenna, and Sara. That is apartment 207. And then the bottow row is my apartment from left to right, Claire, me, and Becca.
